ABOUT ECHOLAND
Echoland is a family-run mountain lodge located in Madarao, northern Nagano.
It features seven cozy rooms and offers unique ski and snowboard experiences.
The lodge also includes a dinner restaurant and bar, as well as gear rentals, lessons, and backcountry guiding services.
Echoland（エコーランド）は、長野県北部・斑尾高原に位置する、30代夫婦が営むマウンテンロッジです。
全7室の居心地の良い客室を備え、スキーやスノーボードのユニークな体験を提供しています。
館内にはディナーも楽しめるレストラン＆バーがあり、レンタルギアの貸し出し、スキー／スノーボードレッスン、そしてバックカントリーガイドサービスも行っています。

六つ星をつけたいくらい素晴らしい宿です！普段は駅までの送迎をしていないご主人が、バスの定休日に特別に駅まで送ってくれました。
"Takashi and Echo were so sweet and kind and helpful throughout. They can help you buy lift tickets easily too. Breakfast was also yummy and I got to meet lots of great people and have fun conversations!
It was already a 5 star stay but turns out my bus to the station wasn’t running that day and Takashi went out of his way to wait with me, and dropped me off even though it wasn’t part of the usual service just so I could make it to my work meeting in Tokyo 😭 super grateful!! I can’t say more positive things about a lodge - would give them 6/5 stars if I could!!"

"The staff was so kind, it really did feel like a home. The food was well prepared, and you could tell they really cared of their guests. The ambience is nice, and meeting other travelers made the experience so much better. Food was great, breakfast & dinner was super convenient and fulfilling. Location is very close to the slopes, and with the pick ups & drop offs, everything was just care free. Highly recommend."

WHY MADARAO?

NO CROWDS 混雑なし
Madarao isn’t as famous as some other resorts, which is a good thing! Even on holidays or powder days, you rarely have to wait more than a few minutes for lifts. Most of the time, there’s no line at all. Great for beginners and powder hunters alike.
MADAPOW マダパウ
Only a handful of ski resorts have powder snow so good that it earns its own nickname. Madarao is one of them. Madarao’s snow is light, dry, and deep. Locals call it “MadaPow.” If “Japow” is like Japanese Wagyu, then MadaPow is the A5 grade—top quality and unforgettable.
TREE RUN ツリーラン
Madarao has the largest official tree-run area in Japan. It’s one of the few places that welcomes tree skiing, with lots of ungroomed terrain for advanced skiers and snowboarders.
EASY ACCESS アクセス抜群
Just 2 hours from Tokyo by bullet train and shuttle. Madarao is also close to other top resorts like Nozawa, Myoko, Lotte Arai, and Shiga Kogen, so it’s easy to explore more.

Drive to Madarao
If you are driving, winter tires are required, and 4WD is highly recommended.
You can also rent a car at Nagano Station — all rental cars come with winter tires.
Direct Bus from Airport to Madarao
There is a direct winter-season bus from Haneda Airport and Narita Airport to Madarao Kogen Hotel.
If you arrive there, we can pick you up — please let us know in advance.

Closest station: Iiyama Station (Hokuriku Shinkansen: Tokyo ⇄ Kanazawa)
From Iiyama Station:

A shuttle bus to Yamanoie-mae (our closest bus stop) departs from Bus Stop 1, Chikumaguchi Exit.
We can pick you up — please inform us beforehand. -
Taxi is also available from the Chikumaguchi Exit.

Hokuriku Shinkansen → Approx. 1 hr 50 min
From Osaka / Kyoto:
Limited Express Thunderbird to Kanazawa → Transfer to Hokuriku Shinkansen → About 1 hr to Iiyama
From Nagoya:
Limited Express Shinano to Nagano → Shinkansen → 10 min to Iiyama
